Clothing product photography
There’s a huge range of clothes and footwear that any client can ask to have photographed for their e-commerce website or printed material how do you decide what is needed and why clothing product photography shouldn’t be overlooked.
We photograph clothing for a wide range of clients across Scotland and the UK, from designers, manufacturers to wholesalers and retailers we offer a one stop solution to your clothing product photography.
The lifestyle shot
These are the key shots that introduce a range, it usually involves a model and a location shoot.
The key shot
Taking viewers into the range needs to catch their eye it needs to interest them, match their ideas or leads them in a different direction making them change their mind and what the actually want.
The product shot
The standard pack shot, it’s the visual specification shot that shows the shopper what the item actually is stripped back to the minimum but there are options that go beyond a snap of a shirt or scarf it is an opportunity to try to be different to create a look or angle of styling that is consistant with a range or brand.
Ghost mannequin photography
This style of photography sets your products apart from the standard lay flat approach, it verges on the 3D concept of fashion product photography with out a model. We have been doing ghost mannequin photography since it first appeared even before it was popular. The down side of this photography is it is labour intensive mainly in staging the multiple shots in the studio and the post production work required by the retouching team.
However we have also developed a simple in camera solution that suits certain items of clothing which cuts down a lost of time and requires much less post production work from the retouchers.
Modelling your fashion line is the traditional approach and still the best in our opinion it gives the visitor a sense of scale and proportion and with the choice of model can directly target a particular demography and age group.
When budgets are restricted for fashion photography but there is a need for some staging that lay flat doesn’t deliver then mannequin product photography is an option. Using the mannequin to our advantage to introduce a graphic element to the product shot sets it apart from the standard shop window dressed mannequin approach.
Lay flat photography
Collections and sets, graphic styling and the combination of lay flat art has an appeal its extremely easy to be boring but in the hands of creative visionaries it becomes something more. Of course a simple lay flat is still a cool approach and popular with many of our clients, we are looking to develop clean lines and add a little something to the shot in the presentation, styling and lighting.
Every image should speak about you, the business and the brand the image is everything.
